2026 POOL RULES
West Smyrna Swim & Tennis Club, Inc.

The West Smyrna Swim and Tennis Club, Inc. is provided primarily for the pleasure of its members; the guest privileges are subject to change. The West Smyrna Swim and Tennis Club, Inc. is authorized to establish, interpret, and enforce pool rules and regulations. These rules may be amended or changed by the Board of Directors as they deem appropriate.
Pool hours are 7 am to 10 pm. Quiet hours are 7 am to 9 am each day, and as such no music, loud activities, or use of the diving board is permitted.
GENERAL
- When a lifeguard is not present, the pool is considered an “unattended swim at your own risk” facility. Use of the facility is at the sole risk of the individual using the facility. Parents/guardians/senior members are responsible for the safety and care of their minor children and assume all risk(s) in this regard.
- Children aged 3 years and under must have a parent or guardian within touching distance in the pool.
- Children under 12 are not permitted at any time unless accompanied by a senior member. When a lifeguard is not present, those children under 12 shall be directly supervised by a senior member.
- Family senior members must be present when a lifeguard is not present for those children aged 12-15. The senior member is defined as the head(s) of the household (parents).
- Members aged 16 and older are permitted to use the pool without a senior member or lifeguard present and may have up to one (1) guest that is also 16 or older.
- Children aged 3 years and under or those that are not toilet trained must wear swim diapers. All other diapers are prohibited. Violations of this rule may result in a fine of $150 and/or suspension of privileges.
LIFEGUARDS
- The lifeguard has the authority to prohibit any activities in the pool or pool areas that the lifeguard has deemed unsafe. All swimmers must cooperate and comply with the lifeguard’s instructions and requests.
- Beginning Saturday of Memorial Day weekend through Monday of Labor Day weekend, a lifeguard will be on duty during the following times:
- 1 pm – 6 pm Monday – Thursday
- 1 pm – 7 pm Friday – Sunday
- When thunder is heard, the lifeguard will clear the pool until 30 minutes have passed with no thunder being heard. Failure to follow the lifeguard’s instructions will be reported to the Executive Board of the club.
- Only at the lifeguard’s discretion will flotation devices of any description be allowed in the pool.
- Only at the lifeguard’s discretion will throwing of objects (balls, Frisbees, etc.) be allowed in the pool.
- The lifeguard shall issue a warning to an uncooperative person in the presence of an adult member, if possible. First offense after the warning — 3 days out of the pool area; second offense — 7 days; third offense — the person must appear before the Board prior to re-entering the pool. If the person is a child, the parents or parent must also meet with the Board. The lifeguard will contact the Executive Board concerning the offense, and the President will then contact the offender.
GUESTS
- All members are asked to register neighborhood guests when entering the pool area utilizing the QR Code posted at the clubhouse. Failure to register neighborhood guests is subject to disciplinary action. See “POOL GUEST PRIVILEGES” for additional information and guidance.
CONDUCT
- No glass is permitted in the pool area – no exceptions.
- NO SMOKING!
- Diving is permitted only in the specified diving area. Only one person shall use or be on the diving board or in the area immediately in front of the diving board at any one time.
- There shall be no running, no boisterous conduct, no profanity or vulgarity, no loud music, no vandalism, and no destruction or damage of club property. Senior Members shall be responsible for the conduct of their children and guests.
- Only proper swimming attire will be permitted in the pool.
- No animals are permitted in the pool area.
- All trash shall be placed in trash containers. If using the pool after lifeguard hours, take trash to dumpster and place new trash bag in container. Do not place any large items in trash cans, including pizza boxes. Please take those items directly to the dumpster.
- Straighten pool furniture and pick up pool toys.
- Pool gate shall be locked at all times.
- If you are the last to leave the pool area, please turn off restroom lights, turn off pool lights (if possible), close all umbrellas and close the doors to the restrooms.
- No club property (furniture, kitchen items, etc.) may be removed from the premises.
- In case of inclement weather or high winds promptly close and secure all umbrellas.
SWIM PARTIES
• A lifeguard must be present during all private swimming parties. In the case that a
lifeguard does not fulfill his/her duties, the host of the party shall designate a
responsible adult to oversee the party and act as a point of contact while guests are
using the pool. Contact information shall be provided to the Executive Board.
• Swim parties larger than 10 people must have an additional approved lifeguard for the
party. For every additional 20 people, another guard will be required.
– Pool parties with 10 or less people – on duty guard okay
– Pool parties with 11 – 29 people – one dedicated event lifeguard required
– Pool parties with 30 – 49 people – two dedicated event lifeguards required
– Pool parties with 50 – 69 people – three dedicated event lifeguards required
• The hours allowed for swim parties:
– Monday thru Thursday: 9 am through 9 pm
– Friday, Saturday, and Sunday hours: either 9 am – 1 pm or 5 pm – 9 pm.
– Guests are not allowed to stay at pool past the party hours.
– No pool parties permitted on holidays.
• All drinks must be in non-breakable containers.
• Use the link to reserve the Cabana space for your swim party.
POOL GUEST PRIVILEGES
• All guests must be registered by signing in at the pool entrance.
• All guests must be accompanied by a member while using club facilities.
• Neighborhood guests are not allowed on holidays.
• Each Household membership is allowed up to four (4) neighborhood guests or one family unit per visit.
Neighborhood guests may visit once a week.
– Houseguests are not restricted (person remaining overnight).
– If a member wishes to bring more than the allowed number of guests to the pool,
this constitutes a Swim Party, and the Swim Party rules must be followed.
• Fees:
– Neighborhood guests: $5.00 (pay via Venmo QR code posted at the clubhouse)
– Houseguests: FREE
• An unmarried senior member of WSSTC may bring an adult guest (date) without
limitation as to the number of visits and without a guest fee.
• All members are responsible for their guests.
• A sitter pass may be purchased for $15.00 per month. The sitter pass is good for one
individual only. Contact the club treasurer or purchase online.
RULES FOR SWIM LESSONS
• Private individual swim lessons are to be given to members only. **No non-members
are allowed.
• Senior members must be present at all times during the lessons. Drop off and pick up
are not allowed under any circumstances.
• Lessons are to be given only between the hours of 9 AM to 12:30 PM Monday thru Friday
and 6 PM to 8 PM Monday thru Thursday. This is to ensure that lessons will not interfere
with the regular swim time for members.
• Swim instructors shall provide proof of insurance, which shall be maintained on file
with the club, prior to starting lessons.
